Oval Parody (Italy Edition)

Exhibited: Spazio Maiocchi, Milan, 2022

Curated by KALEIDOSCOPE

Publication: Oval Parody (Kaleidoscope Editions, 2022)

Oval Parody is a series of twelve acrylic paintings that dissect and reframe the graphic language of FUCT’s iconic oval logo—a subversive reworking of the Ford emblem that once defined the streetwear canon. The works were first exhibited in Milan at Spazio Maiocchi in a solo presentation curated by KALEIDOSCOPE, and contextualized with a limited-edition book and billboard installation.

This series revisits the original gesture that positioned Erik Brunetti as a cultural saboteur and formalist provocateur. Each painting operates as both artifact and indictment: a critique of commercial semiotics, legacy systems, and the commodification of dissent.

The exhibition featured:

– Twelve original paintings (acrylic on canvas)

– A curated pop-up with capsule apparel (FUCT x Slam Jam)

– A large-scale billboard commission

– A published monograph titled Oval Parody

Ten of the original twelve masterworks are held in the Erik Brunetti Foundation’s permanent collection. The remaining two are in private collections. Works retained by the Foundation are not for sale and are available for institutional loan or vetted curatorial placement.

Documentation includes:

– Full-resolution exhibition images

– Book scan (PDF)
